Nikki Haley doesn’t comment on Trump’s NYC conviction while other Republicans defend him

Former U.N. Ambassador and GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley has recently been the subject of scrutiny for remaining silent on the criminal conviction of former President Donald Trump. As prominent Republicans and former Trump rivals continue to voice their opinions, Haley has chosen to remain tight-lipped.

During her visit to Israel, Haley has been active on her social media accounts, sharing posts about the tragic attack carried out by Hamas on October 7th. This attack has been a point of concern for many, and Haley has used her platform to shed light on the horrifying events that unfolded.

Trump and Haley, who used to have a strong working relationship, saw their dynamic shift as Haley decided to enter the 2024 GOP primary field, despite previously stating that she would not. This decision did not sit well with the former president, who took issue with Haley’s candidacy multiple times during the campaign.

After a contentious battle for the GOP nomination, which included personal attacks between Trump and Haley, the former ambassador initially remained noncommittal about her support for Trump. However, she eventually endorsed him earlier this month.

“I will be voting for Trump,” Haley announced during an event at the Hudson Institute in Washington. She added, “Having said that, I stand by what I said in my suspension speech. Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me and continue to support me and not assume that they’re just going to be with him. And I genuinely hope he does that.”

Following Trump’s conviction on all 34 counts related to falsifying business records in connection to the hush money payment to Stormy Daniels, reactions from prominent Republicans flooded in. Many of Trump’s primary opponents also shared their thoughts on the verdict, with mixed reactions.

After the jury delivered its verdict, Trump addressed reporters in a fiery statement, calling the trial a “disgrace” and alleging that it was rigged by a corrupt and conflicted judge. Trump maintained his innocence and expressed confidence that the true verdict would come from the people on November 5th.

As the fallout from Trump’s conviction continues to reverberate through political circles, Haley’s decision to remain silent has raised eyebrows among both supporters and critics. Time will tell how her stance on this issue will impact her political future and relationships within the GOP.
