Obama supports Biden after he leaves 2024 race
Former President Barack Obama recently released a heartfelt statement Sunday afternoon, praising President Biden after his decision to withdraw from the 2024 race. Obama expressed his admiration for Biden, calling him a “dear friend and partner” and a “patriot of the highest order.”
Reflecting on their longstanding relationship, Obama reminisced about the time he selected Biden as his vice president sixteen years ago. He highlighted not just Biden’s impressive career in public service, but also his character traits such as empathy, resilience, decency, and belief in the value of every individual.
Obama lauded Biden’s accomplishments during his 3½ years as commander-in-chief, crediting him with significant achievements such as ending the pandemic, boosting job creation, reducing prescription drug costs, passing gun safety legislation, leading major climate change initiatives, and advocating for the rights of workers to organize for fair pay and benefits.
The former president contrasted Biden’s administration with the tumultuous tenure of former President Donald Trump, denouncing it as a period marked by chaos, falsehoods, and division. Despite recognizing Biden’s stellar track record, Obama emphasized the critical nature of the upcoming election, stating that Joe comprehends the high stakes involved.
Obama underscored the importance of preventing a Trump return to power and Republican control of Congress, asserting that the core values of the Democratic Party are at risk. He also praised Biden for his decision to step down and pass the torch to a new nominee, acknowledging the difficulty of this choice and Biden’s dedication to what he believes is best for the country.
Expressing his confidence in the Democratic Party’s leadership to navigate this transition, Obama expressed optimism that an exceptional nominee would emerge from the process. He affirmed his belief that Biden’s vision for an inclusive, prosperous, and united America would shine brightly at the upcoming Democratic Convention in August.
The Democratic National Convention is scheduled to take place in Chicago from August 19 to August 22. Obama concluded his statement with gratitude towards President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, recognizing their service and commitment to the welfare of the nation.
