Olbermann criticizes CNN after Biden’s performance.

Former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann ignited a firestorm of liberal outrage aimed at CNN following its recent forum between President Biden and former President Trump. Olbermann, along with other Biden loyalists, took issue with CNN moderators Jake Tapper and Dana Bash despite generally positive feedback from bipartisan voices.

During the latest episode of his “Countdown” podcast, Olbermann expressed his frustration by claiming that CNN’s refusal to fact-check former President Trump was one of the most immoral decisions in American journalism history. He went as far as to call for CNN to be burned down, along with the firing of everyone involved and sealing off the buildings.

Olbermann didn’t stop there, also targeting CNN Worldwide CEO Sir Mark Thompson and calling for Bash and Tapper to be fired for what he perceived as journalistic malpractice during the debate. The backlash wasn’t limited to Olbermann, with Pennsylvania Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro criticizing CNN’s handling of Trump’s lies during the event.

Even Rep. Daniel Goldman, a staunch critic of Trump, criticized CNN for not properly pushing back against Trump’s mischaracterizations of his presidency. Former Playboy White House correspondent Brian Karem and Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, a former Melania Trump adviser, also joined in on the criticism.

Despite the uproar, a CNN spokesperson defended the network’s approach, stating that it is up to the candidates to challenge each other during a debate, with CNN providing fact-checking coverage post-debate.

While the debate may have stirred controversy and criticism, it also highlighted the importance of holding candidates accountable and facilitating meaningful discussions on critical issues facing American voters.
