Omar’s opponent criticizes Walz for following ‘dangerous’ policies like the ‘Squad’
The upcoming gubernatorial election in Minnesota has become increasingly contentious, with GOP candidate Dalia Al-Aqidi taking aim at incumbent Governor Tim Walz for his progressive policies that she believes are harmful to the state. Al-Aqidi, who fled the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein in Iraq before settling in the United States, has been vocal in her criticism of Walz’s administration, accusing him of aligning with the far-left and failing to address the issues facing Minneapolis.
Al-Aqidi’s concerns stem from what she perceives as Walz’s close ties to the progressive wing of the Democratic Party, including figures like U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar. She argues that Walz’s policies have led to increased violence and crime rates in the city, pointing to his delayed response to the civil unrest that erupted following the death of George Floyd.
The GOP candidate also highlights Vice President Kamala Harris’s controversial support for a fundraiser that bailed out Black Lives Matter rioters and Walz’s hesitance to call in the National Guard during the protests. Al-Aqidi warns that if these two individuals were to be in charge together, it would spell disaster for Minnesota’s 5th District.
Despite their ideological alignment, Omar and Walz have a history of mutual admiration, with the congresswoman praising the governor for his progressive policies on issues like school meals, paid family leave, and marijuana legalization. However, Al-Aqidi remains steadfast in her belief that Walz’s administration has been detrimental to the state and its residents.
As the primary election approaches, Al-Aqidi is running unopposed on the GOP ticket, while Omar faces competition from three Democratic challengers. The outcome of the election will undoubtedly shape the future of Minnesota and determine the direction of its governance.
