During the incident, Corey Comperatore, a rally attendee, tragically lost his life while shielding his wife and daughters from the gunfire. Governor Shapiro paid tribute to Corey, highlighting his dedication to his family, community, and his support for the former president.

Corey’s sister, Dawn Comperatore Schafer, described him as a hero who selflessly protected his daughters during the harrowing ordeal. She emphasized the pain and grief experienced by their family in the wake of Corey’s untimely passing.

The suspected shooter, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, allegedly fired shots at President Trump from a rooftop located approximately 130 yards away from the rally stage. The FBI is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Shapiro disclosed that he had a conversation with President Joe Biden regarding the investigation, ensuring that state police have been provided with all necessary resources to support the FBI’s efforts.
