Pennsylvania Congressman Dwight Evans recovering from stroke
U.S. Rep. Dwight Evans of Philadelphia recently disclosed that he is currently undergoing rehabilitation after experiencing a minor stroke. Despite this setback, he remains determined to return to his duties in Washington in approximately six weeks.
As a Democrat in his fourth term, Evans shared that he is grappling with difficulty in one of his legs, affecting his mobility for the foreseeable future. However, he anticipates being discharged from the rehabilitation facility within a week.
At 70 years old, Evans learned of his stroke diagnosis only this week, initially unaware of what had transpired for a few days. Fortunately, he reassured the public that his ability to fulfill his congressional responsibilities in the long run will not be compromised.
Following the diagnosis, Evans took some time to recuperate and deliberate on how best to reveal the news to the public. He expressed his desire to use his experience to raise awareness and dispel the stigma associated with strokes, emphasizing that many individuals can recover and resume their daily lives and obligations.
Prior to his tenure in the U.S. House of Representatives, Evans had a distinguished 36-year career in the state House of Representatives. His achievements included serving as the Appropriations Committee chairman. He later secured his current congressional seat after succeeding the convicted former U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah.
