Poll shows majority of voters concerned about Biden and Trump’s ability to serve as president after debate.

Recent polling data following the Biden-Trump debate reveals underlying concerns among voters regarding President Biden’s ability to serve a second term. According to an NBC News survey of 800 registered voters conducted over July 7-9, nearly 80% of respondents expressed worries about Biden’s mental and physical health in relation to his role as president.

Despite the close race between Trump and Biden, with Trump leading by 45% to 43%, the survey unveiled unsettling sentiments within the Democratic party. A notable 62% of Democratic voters expressed a desire for an alternate candidate to lead their party. Moreover, a staggering 79% of all voters harbor concerns about Biden’s capability to effectively carry out his presidential duties at 81 years of age.

Comparatively, only 50% of respondents shared similar apprehensions regarding Trump’s mental and physical fitness, despite his age of 78. The disparity in public perception between the two candidates is telling in the current political landscape.

Furthermore, the survey shed light on the public’s apprehensions regarding potential legal troubles for Trump. A significant 58% of respondents expressed major or moderate concerns over Trump facing legal ramifications in New York, including 34 felony counts related to falsifying business records and additional charges linked to efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

Regarding the impact of the recent debate between Biden and Trump, a substantial 71% of respondents stated that the debate had no sway in influencing their candidate preference. President Biden’s lackluster performance during the June 27 debate sparked criticism, leading some members of Congress to call for him to consider stepping down from the race.

In a hypothetical scenario pitting Vice President Kamala Harris against Trump, the poll results indicated that Trump would lead by 47% to 45%. Harris, whose name has surfaced as a potential replacement for Biden should he withdraw from the race, faces an uphill battle against the incumbent president.
