Poll shows more than 50% of people like Trump and think he’s better than Biden on top issues.
Former President Trump’s approval rating has hit above 50%, outperforming President Biden on the voters’ primary concerns, according to a recent poll.
The survey, conducted by USA TODAY/Suffolk University on a sample group of 1,000 registered voters between June 28 and 30, revealed that 51% of respondents approve of Trump’s presidential performance from 2017 to 2021, while only 41% approve of Biden’s current job performance.
In terms of the key issues dominating the 2024 election campaign – the economy and immigration – more registered voters believe that Trump would handle these issues more effectively than Biden.
The poll indicated that 53% of registered voters trust Trump to manage immigration, compared to 40% who think the same of Biden.
When it comes to national security and dealing with China, respondents also expressed more confidence in Trump, with 52% favoring him over Biden on national security, and 51% preferring Trump to handle China, compared to 42% and 41% for Biden, respectively.
In contrast, Biden scored higher than Trump on race relations and healthcare, with 51% believing Biden is better equipped to handle race relations, and 50% prefer him to handle healthcare, compared to 41% and 40% for Trump, respectively.
The poll illustrated Trump leading Biden 41% to 38% overall, marking a three-point increase for Trump from USA TODAY’s previous survey in May, although falling within the poll’s margin of error of 3.1%.
Almost 60% of respondents trust Trump to “get things done,” while only 44% said the same about Biden.
The survey identified the economy/inflation as the most pressing issue for 35% of registered voters, followed by threats to democracy at 21%, and immigration at 19%.
