Red Clothing Girl Feels More Confident Thanks to Taylor Swift’s Approval

When you have Taylor Swift backing you up, it’s hard not to feel like you can conquer the world. Girl in Red, who had the opportunity to open for the pop sensation during the Eras Tour last year, credits Swift for boosting her confidence and solidifying her belief in her own talents.

Named as one of Elle’s three rising music stars of 2024 alongside Tate McRae and Tyla, Marie Ulven, the Norwegian artist behind Girl in Red, recently reflected on her journey as an artist and a performer. In a video released on Wednesday (May 1), she opened up about her struggles with anxiety and how it once made her doubt her ability to perform on stage. She admitted, “The biggest obstacle has been, historically, my anxiety. Because of that, I was like, ‘I can never be on a stage again.'”

However, fast forward to the summer of 2023, and Ulven found herself performing in stadiums across the United States as part of Taylor Swift’s tour, captivating audiences every night with her music. Recalling her time on tour with Swift, Ulven shared, “After touring with Taylor, she would introduce the openers and then she’d be like, ‘Give it up for Girl in Red, who crushed it!’ So I was like, ‘You know what? I think I know what I’m doing.'”
