Republicans now focusing on Kamala Harris instead of Joe Biden.

As the Democratic party prepares for a new chapter without Joe Biden, the spotlight is now shining brightly on Vice President Kamala Harris. With Republicans wasting no time in launching attacks against her, it seems that the 2024 race is already heating up.

Following Biden’s unexpected announcement that he will not be seeking reelection, GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump and his allies have taken aim at Harris, trying to link her to Biden’s immigration policies and labeling her views as too liberal.

One of the first salvos was fired by a Trump-supporting super PAC, which released an ad accusing Harris of covering up Biden’s supposed mental decline and taking over his role. The ad painted a grim picture of the current state of affairs, attributing issues such as a border invasion, rampant inflation, and the demise of the American Dream to Harris.

Trump himself didn’t hold back in his criticism of Harris, dubbing her ‘Laffin’ Kamala’ at a recent campaign rally and implying that her laughter was a sign of instability. Even Donald Trump Jr. joined the fray, claiming that Harris is more leftist and less capable than Biden.

Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill have also entered the fray, questioning Biden’s ability to fulfill his duties and calling for his immediate resignation. This move, if successful, would ironically elevate Harris to the presidency.

Accusing the Democrats of undermining the will of the voters by pressuring Biden to step aside, House Speaker Mike Johnson condemned the party’s actions as undemocratic. He also criticized Harris for her role in what he deemed as the failures of the Biden Administration.

Senator Rick Scott echoed similar sentiments, pointing to Harris’ previous statements defending Biden’s fitness for office as evidence of her lack of credibility as a presidential candidate. According to Scott, it was evident as far back as 2021 that Biden was not up to the task.

With Biden out of the race, the 2024 presidential landscape has been thrown into disarray, prompting Republicans to urge him to reconsider his decision. At 78, Trump is now set to become the oldest candidate in the running, with a history of legal troubles, including a felony conviction in New York.

Analysts have noted the significant age difference between Harris and Trump, with Harris being 59 years old compared to Trump’s 78. Recent elections have shown that significant age gaps between major nominees have tended to favor younger Democratic candidates, which could play a role in the upcoming race.

As the dust settles from Biden’s bombshell announcement, all eyes are now on Kamala Harris as she prepares to step into the spotlight and lead the Democratic party forward. With Republicans launching early attacks against her, the 2024 race promises to be a fierce and contentious battle for the presidency.
