Republicans Want Hunter and James Biden to Face Criminal Charges

Republicans Call for DOJ to Prosecute Hunter Biden and James Biden for Alleged False Statements to Congress

Republicans have requested the Department of Justice to prosecute President Joe Biden’s son Hunter and brother James for allegedly making false statements to Congress. The calls for prosecution come in the midst of ongoing investigations into the overseas business dealings of the Biden family, particularly in relation to President Biden’s potential involvement.

In a press release, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) stated, “We’ve caught President Biden’s son and brother making blatant lies to Congress in what appears to be a concerted effort to hide Joe Biden’s involvement in his family’s schemes.”

The allegations revolve around specific instances during Hunter and James Biden’s testimony earlier this year, as part of Republicans’ impeachment inquiry. While the investigations have not directly implicated the president in any acts of corruption, Republicans are pressing forward with criminal referrals based on perceived false statements provided to Congress.

The three instances of alleged false statements include:

1. Hunter Biden’s claim of accidentally sending a threatening WhatsApp message to the wrong Chinese businessman in 2017 while under the influence. Records obtained by Republicans contradict this claim and suggest that the threat was intentional and implied retaliation from Hunter Biden’s father.

2. Hunter Biden’s denial of a formal role in the company Rosemont Seneca Bohai, despite documents signed by him indicating his position as the company’s corporate secretary.

3. Republicans have also questioned whether Joe Biden participated in his son and brother’s business deals, with conflicting testimonies from various business partners and associates.

While criminal referrals have been made to the Justice Department, it is ultimately up to law enforcement authorities to decide whether to pursue charges. Contrary to popular belief, the responsibility of initiating criminal investigations lies with the executive branch, not the legislative.

Despite ongoing legal battles for Hunter Biden, including charges related to owning a firearm illegally and tax evasion, Republicans are adamant about pursuing legal action based on the perceived false statements to Congress.

Repercussions of the investigations and potential prosecutions remain to be seen, as the political landscape continues to evolve. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
