Republicans wear homemade ear bandages to support Trump.
Following the recent attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania, supporters have come together to show their solidarity in a unique way – by wearing bandages on their ears.
During the rally in Butler, Pa., a gunman opened fire, injuring Trump on his right ear and tragically killing Corey Comperatore, 50. Two other individuals, David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74, were also injured but are now in stable condition. Investigators are still in the process of determining the motive behind the shooting.
After the incident, Trump’s former doctor, Rep. Ronny Jackson of Texas, revealed that he personally examined Trump’s ear. He explained to the New York Times, “The bullet caused damage on the top of his ear, an area that is known to bleed profusely.”
Despite the ordeal, Trump made a surprising appearance at the Republican National Convention where he was spotted wearing white gauze around his injured ear.
Delegates and attendees at the convention showed their solidarity with Trump by donning makeshift “bandages” on their right ears. From folded-up slips of paper to pieces of tape, supporters creatively displayed their support for the former president.
Arizona delegate Joe Neglia was one of the first individuals photographed wearing an ear bandage at the convention. Neglia shared with CBS News that he fashioned his bandage out of an envelope on the bus ride to the event. “This is the newest fashion trend. I’m getting this going. Everybody in the world is going to be wearing these pretty soon,” Neglia proudly exclaimed.
The trend even extended to conservative radio hosts Steve Johnson and Kenny Webster, who posted a photo of themselves with bandages on their ears and claimed to be selling “official MAGA ear patch” merchandise online.
Well-known Uncle Sam impersonator, Duane Schwingel, who has gained popularity for his performances outside Trump rallies and hearings, also joined in on the ear bandage trend.
Despite the somber circumstances that led to the emergence of the ear bandage trend, supporters continue to show their unwavering support for Donald Trump in a unique and visually impactful way.
As the Republican National Convention carries on, the sea of bandaged ears serves as a powerful symbol of unity and solidarity among Trump supporters during this challenging time.
