Rubio now disagrees with Trump’s deportation plan: calls it an ‘invasion’

Sen. Marco Rubio Shifts Stance on Trump’s Deportation Plans

Senator Marco Rubio, R-Fla, surprised many with his recent change in stance regarding former President Trump’s deportation plans. Previously critical of Trump’s proposals, Rubio now expresses support for using the military to deport illegal immigrants from the country.

In an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Rubio stated, “We cannot absorb 25, 30 million people who entered this country illegally. They’re here illegally, what country on earth could tolerate that?” This marked a significant shift from Rubio’s earlier criticisms of Trump’s deportation plans.

Back in 2015, Rubio was a primary rival of Trump and had voiced concerns about the practicality of rounding up and deporting millions of illegal immigrants. However, in light of the current situation and the influx of migrants in recent years, Rubio now believes dramatic action is necessary.

Trump has reiterated his commitment to carrying out mass deportations if re-elected, even suggesting the use of the National Guard for enforcement. Rubio’s change in stance reflects the evolving challenges posed by the increasing number of illegal immigrants in the country.

Addressing the issue of vetting incoming migrants, Rubio emphasized the need for decisive measures to remove those who pose potential risks to national security. He raised concerns about the lack of knowledge regarding some individuals who have entered the country illegally.

Citing the surge in migration as an “invasion,” Rubio underscored the urgency of addressing the situation. He pointed out that the current scenario is vastly different from the one he encountered during his involvement in immigration reform discussions in 2013.

“When I said that back in 2013 when I was involved in immigration reform, we had 11, 12 million people that had been here for longer than a decade, now we’ve had almost that number in the last three years alone,” Rubio explained. He highlighted the potential risks associated with unchecked migration, including the possibility of terrorist infiltration.

As the debate on immigration policy continues to evolve, Rubio’s shift in stance reflects the complex challenges faced by policymakers in addressing illegal immigration. The need for effective solutions to secure the nation’s borders and safeguard national interests remains a pressing issue for legislators and the public alike.
