Schumer tells Trump supporters to respect legal process after guilty verdict.

Republican lawmakers are considering holding hearings to scrutinize prosecutors in the New York v. Trump trial, while the Senate’s top Democrat is urging former President Trump’s allies to allow the legal process to unfold as Trump seeks to appeal his guilty verdict.

In a statement on Friday, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., emphasized that Donald Trump went through the same legal process as all Americans, was tried according to the facts and the law, and was ultimately found guilty by a jury of his peers.

Asserting that Trump is now a convicted felon, Schumer highlighted the importance of letting the legal system take its course as Trump plans his appeal.

During a press conference in New York City, Trump expressed his intention to challenge the verdict, underscoring the need for the legal process to proceed without external political influence, intimidation, or interference from either his supporters or critics.

As Schumer called for a respectful adherence to the law, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan demanded that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and prosecutor Matthew Colangelo appear for a hearing to address what he characterized as the “unprecedented political prosecution of President Trump.”

Trump was convicted by a New York jury on Thursday on 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, with whom he allegedly had an affair.
