Sean Penn talks about his friendship with Hunter Biden.

Sean Penn recently shared his admiration for his close friend, Hunter Biden, during an interview with The New York Times. In a wide-ranging conversation with reporter Maureen Dowd, the actor proudly displayed a painting by Hunter Biden, titled “The Map,” which was prominently showcased in his Malibu home.

Dowd described the painting as featuring a black outline of a head surrounded by colorful, intricate brushstrokes. Penn explained that the artwork was a personal gift from President Joe Biden’s son, created during Hunter’s journey of putting his life back together while battling drug and alcohol abuse.

Although Hunter Biden has recently faced legal troubles, including being convicted of three felonies related to dishonesty about his drug use, Penn spoke highly of his friend, calling him a “very, very insightful guy.” The actor revealed that Hunter, along with his wife Melissa and their son Beau, had visited his home just the night before the interview.

Penn recounted how he first met Hunter Biden at a 2022 event for the Kennedy Center Honors and reconnected with him last fall at the suggestion of mutual friend, Democratic congressman Eric Swalwell of California. Despite any negative press surrounding Hunter, Penn expressed his admiration for him after reading an interview and was eager to share his admiration upon meeting him in person.

Recently, Penn was Hunter Biden’s personal guest at a Hollywood fundraiser for his father, President Biden. The actor has been a vocal critic of President Biden’s Republican rival, Donald Trump, for several years.

During his interview with Dowd, Penn did not hold back in expressing his disdain for the former president, labeling him as “shameful as an art and as a way of life.” This clear stance on politics highlights Penn’s unwavering loyalty to the Biden family, particularly to his friend, Hunter.
