Study finds record number of foreign-born people living in the US due to unchecked illegal immigration.

The foreign-born population in the United States hit a record high in March, largely due to the influx of illegal migrants over the past few years. According to a study by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), the population of foreign-born individuals reached 51.6 million, making up 15.6% of the total U.S. population—a new record. This increase of 5.1 million people from March 2022 to March 2024 marks the largest two-year surge in American history.

The CIS report reveals that less than half of the immigrants who arrived since 2022 are employed, challenging the common perception of immigrants solely as workers. The significant rise in the foreign-born population is predominantly attributed to illegal immigration, with 58% of the increase during President Biden’s tenure being linked to illegal migration. Since assuming office in 2021, the foreign-born population has spiked by a total of 6.6 million individuals.

This unprecedented 6.6 million person surge under Biden’s administration in just 39 months is equivalent to the growth observed in the nine years preceding the COVID-19 pandemic. The report projects that if current trends persist, the foreign-born population will soar to 62.5 million by 2030 and 82.2 million by 2040, surpassing the combined populations of 30 states and the District of Columbia.

Furthermore, the report underscores that these figures represent a net increase in the overall population, compensating for migrant outflows or deaths. The addition of new immigrants to the total foreign-born population is counteracted by emigration and mortality within the existing immigrant community. The report emphasizes that all births to immigrants only contribute to the native-born population, necessitating even higher levels of new arrivals for such a substantial growth in the foreign-born population.

Additionally, the report highlights a stark contrast between the surge under President Biden compared to his predecessors. Biden has been adding approximately 174,000 new foreign-born residents per month, far exceeding the inflow seen under former President Trump before the onset of the pandemic. This influx also surpasses the numbers under former President Obama, illustrating a significant increase in immigration during Biden’s administration.

The report concludes by posing a critical question about America’s ability to successfully integrate and assimilate the immigrants already present in the country, let alone accommodate millions more in the future. The scale of current immigration, both legal and illegal, is unparalleled in the nation’s history, prompting reflection on the nation’s capacity to embrace diversity and ensure a cohesive society for all.
