Swing state Democrat criticizes Biden for high gas prices, calls it ‘Disappointing’

President Biden is currently under pressure from a fellow Democrat in a swing state to address the soaring gas prices that are hitting Arizona hard. Rep. Ruben Gallego, who is expected to be the Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in Arizona, penned a letter to Biden urging him to take action to provide relief for Western states, similar to the measures taken for states in the Northeast recently.

While Biden had previously released over 1 million barrels of gasoline from the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve to address price concerns in the Northeast, the relief measures did not extend to the Western states. Arizona currently faces some of the highest gas prices in the nation, with the average price per gallon standing at $3.67, compared to the national average of $3.47.

Gallego acknowledged the efforts made by the Biden administration to lower gas prices but highlighted the challenges faced by Arizona due to limited pipeline capacity and regulatory requirements.
