Taylor Swift fans believe she responded to Kanye West’s insult in ‘Vultures 2’

In the world of Swifties, everything Taylor Swift does is scrutinized, analyzed, and interpreted to perfection. So, when fans caught wind of a possible subtle dig at Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, during her latest Eras Tour show, the internet exploded with theories and speculations. This all unfolded following Ye’s reference to Swift on his new album with Ty Dolla $ign, Vultures 2, which coincidentally dropped just hours before Swift took the stage in Warsaw on Saturday (Aug. 3).

On the track “Lifestyle (Demo),” Lil Wayne drops a mention of the 14-time Grammy winner and her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, in his guest verse. With lyrics like “I twist my Taylor spliffs tight at the end like Travis Kelce,” the connection to Swift was hard to miss.

Although Ye himself didn’t directly mention Swift on his album, the fact that a reference to her was included on his latest project drew attention, especially considering their tumultuous history. As fans flocked to her first Eras show after the album’s release, all eyes were on Swift when she appeared in a T-shirt during her Red set that read, “I Bet You Think About Me.”

One Twitter user remarked, “She’s so funny for wearing the I bet you think about me shirt after Ka*ye name dropped her and Travis in his song an actual comedian,” showcasing the ongoing theories and discussions within the Swiftie community.

While Swift has been seen wearing the shirt at previous shows, some fans believed that her choice to wear it at this particular performance in PGE Narodowy was no coincidence. As one fan tweeted, “saw the k*nye thing a little bit ago and I knew she was gonna wear it lmao,” with another fan responding, “it makes so much sense now.”

The history between Swift and Ye is a long and complicated one, marked by public feuds and controversies. It all began with the infamous incident at the 2009 VMAs when Ye interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech, claiming that Beyoncé deserved the award more. While they seemed to mend fences over time, things took a turn when Ye referenced Swift in his 2016 track “Famous,” reigniting their feud once again.

Swift objected to Ye’s lyrics, leading to a public dispute where he alleged that he had Swift’s approval for the song, a claim she vehemently denied. The situation escalated when Ye’s then-wife, Kim Kardashian, released a edited recording of a phone call between the two musicians, portraying Swift in a negative light. Swift opened up about this incident, stating how it affected her mental health and trust in people.

In a December interview with TIME, Swift revealed, “You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar. That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before. I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard.”
