Taylor Swift is the leader of the Republic.
Swift is undoubtedly one of the standout factors contributing to Republic’s market share growth. Still, let’s not overlook the other successful labels under the Republic umbrella, such as Mercury Records, Big Loud Records, and Island Records. Post Malone from Mercury Records has not only collaborated with Swift but also with big names like Beyoncé, Blake Shelton, and Morgan Wallen from Big Loud Records. Wallen’s hit single “I Had Some Help” stayed at the top of the Hot 100 for a remarkable six weeks. Sabrina Carpenter from Island Records and Chappell Roan have also made significant strides on the singles charts, making Island Records’ midpoint stake more than double its share from last year, the highest it has seen since 2018.
Aside from Republic, Interscope Geffen A&M has had a noteworthy quarter with a current market share of 9.51%, up from previous years, with Billie Eilish’s album leading the way. On the West Coast, UMG’s label realignment under the Interscope Capitol Labels Group has shown promising results, placing them in a strong position. Warner Records, holding the third position, has seen continued success with hit singles by artists like Benson Boone, Teddy Swims, and Zach Bryan, maintaining a 6.30% market share.
Atlantic, ranked fourth, has seen a dip in market share compared to the previous year but is still holding strong with songs like Jack Harlow’s “Lovin On Me.” RCA Records, at fifth place, has experienced a slight decrease in share but has improved its ranking. Columbia, in sixth place, has shown improvement in market share due to releases like Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter and Hozier’s single “Too Sweet.” Capitol Music Group, in seventh place, has seen a drop in market share compared to previous years.
The top 10 is rounded out by three Sony labels – Epic Records, Sony Latin, and Sony Nashville – showing a different order than in the previous year. Epic Records has had a successful first half of the year with notable hip-hop albums. Alamo, in eleventh place, has shown significant growth in market share, while Universal’s Nashville and Latin labels follow closely behind. BMG and Concord complete the top 15 among current market share rankings.
Overall market share leaders include UMG at the top with a 38.52% share, followed by Sony at 27.21% and WMG at 18.22%. The indie community by distribution ownership has also seen a slight increase, reaching 16.05%.
Republic leads in overall share with 10.61%, closely followed by Interscope at 9.88%. Atlantic has jumped to third place with a 7.61% share, while Capitol and Columbia are in a tie for fourth place. RCA, Epic, Sony Nashville, and UMG Nashville complete the top 10 in overall share rankings.
