Taylor Swift Makes History with ‘Tortured Poets’

Taylor Swift continues her reign on Australia’s music charts with her latest album “Tortured Poets” topping the ARIA Albums Chart, solidifying her status as the solo female artist with the most number one albums in ARIA chart history. This achievement marks Swift’s 13th leader on the charts, surpassing icons like Madonna and establishing her as one of the top artists in the country.

Not only did “Tortured Poets” claim the top spot on the albums chart, but Swift also secured a chart double with her single “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone debuting at No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. This marks her 12th leader on the singles chart, placing her in third position on the all-time list of artists, with Elvis Presley and The Beatles ahead of her.

What sets Swift apart is her ability to dominate the charts like never before. She became the first artist to hold all top 10 positions on the singles chart and set a new record with 29 of her singles in the top 50, surpassing her previous record of 20. With all 31 tracks from her double album impacting the top 100, Swift’s influence on the music scene is undeniable.

Her success extends beyond just chart positions, as “Tortured Poets” has become the most-sold album on vinyl in ARIA history and the most-streamed LP in its opening week. Universal Music Australia reported that Swift’s album had the biggest debut since Adele’s “25” in 2015, solidifying her impact on the music industry.

Swift’s dominance on the Australian charts is not a recent phenomenon. With only two albums failing to reach the top spot in Australia, her consistent success highlights her enduring popularity with fans. Albums like “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” and “The Eras Tour” have further solidified her position as a powerhouse in the music industry.

Outside of Taylor Swift’s chart-topping success, Pearl Jam’s latest album “Dark Matter” made a strong debut at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart. The Seattle rock legends, known for their iconic sound, have had a history of success in Australia with eight No. 1 albums to their name. “Dark Matter” follows their 2020 release “Gigaton,” showcasing the band’s enduring appeal to music lovers.
