Texas Attorney General sues Biden administration over new gun sale rules, citing historic battle cry.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is standing up against the Biden administration and taking legal action to prevent new restrictions on gun sales.

Paxton, along with Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach, announced a lawsuit challenging a new regulation from the ATF that would impact law-abiding gun owners involved in private sales of firearms. The lawsuit was revealed during a press conference at the Frisco Gun Club, where Paxton criticized the ATF for overstepping its authority by expanding federal licensing rules and background checks to cover some private firearm sales.

During the press conference, Paxton boldly stated, “My message to Joe Biden yesterday, today, and forever is this: Come and take it.”

The phrase “Come and Take It” holds significant historical value in Texas, dating back to the Battle of Gonzales in 1835. This battle marked the beginning of the Texas Revolution, with rebellious colonists defying Mexican rule and asserting their independence with the rallying cry, “Come and take it!”

The symbolism of this phrase has endured over time, representing defiance against any threat to one’s rights or freedoms.

In the current legal battle initiated by Paxton and a coalition of states, the focus is on defending the constitutional right to engage in private gun transactions without excessive government intervention. The proposed ATF policy would require individuals who sell guns for profit to register as licensed dealers, regardless of where the sales occur, and conduct background checks.

Paxton condemned Biden’s actions, accusing the administration of abusing its power and infringing on Second Amendment rights. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding citizens’ freedoms from governmental overreach through legal challenges like the lawsuit filed against the ATF regulation.

As the legal battle unfolds, Paxton remains steadfast in his commitment to protecting the constitutional rights of Texans and citizens across the nation. His advocacy for individual freedoms and resistance against unjust government mandates reflects a long-standing tradition of defiance and resilience within the state of Texas.
