Top House Intelligence Committee Democrat urges Biden to stop campaigning after NATO conference.

After the conclusion of a highly anticipated press conference, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, Jim Himes, made a bold and urgent request to President Biden – suspend his 2024 re-election campaign. This call for action comes following mounting pressure from within the Democratic party, sparked by Biden’s rocky debate performance last month.

During the press conference that took place at the end of the NATO summit in Washington D.C., reporters bombarded Biden with questions about the possibility of stepping aside. Despite the relentless inquiries, Biden made it clear that he is determined to stay in the race, asserting that he is fully capable of serving as president both now and in the coming four years.

However, Rep. Jim Himes wasted no time in expressing his concerns right after the press conference wrapped up. He took to X to emphasize Biden’s unparalleled record of public service and the significant accomplishments he has achieved throughout his career.

In a series of posts on X, Himes underscored the critical need for Biden to protect his legacy, accomplishments, and American democracy from the impending threats posed by Donald Trump’s potential return to power. Himes highlighted the weight of Biden’s legacy and urged him to consider stepping away from the presidential campaign.

Shortly thereafter, Rep. Scott Peters from California joined the chorus calling for Biden to withdraw from the race, citing the real and pressing risks faced by the country if the current trajectory is maintained. Peters emphasized the importance of prioritizing the well-being of the nation and democracy over personal relationships and allegiances.

With Peters becoming the 16th Democrat in the House of Representatives to advocate for Biden’s removal from the race, the pressure continues to mount on the president. Nevertheless, Biden finds solace in the support extended to him by House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
