Trump criticizes Greene for failed attempt to remove Speaker.

Former President Donald Trump made a strong plea to House Republicans, urging them not to support Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s motion to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson, declaring that “this is not the time.” The House of Representatives recently put an end to the attempt by Greene and Rep. Thomas Massie to initiate a vote on vacating the chair.

Greene surprised many by pushing for a vote on her motion to vacate the chair, a move that caught Congressional watchers off guard. Despite her previous vocal support for Trump, the former president appealed to Republicans to set aside her motion at this time.

Trump expressed his admiration for Marjorie Taylor Greene, lauding her spirit and fighting instinct, but stressed that the focus for Republicans should be countering the actions of the Radical Left Democrats. With a slim majority in the House, Trump emphasized that it is not the right moment to entertain a Motion to Vacate. He reassured his followers, indicating he is leading in the presidential polls and believes in the party’s prospects in the upcoming elections.

However, Trump warned against projecting disunity among Republicans, emphasizing the importance of presenting a unified front. He emphasized the need for Republicans to vote for “THE MOTION TO TABLE,” ensuring a strong and coordinated approach. Johnson received overwhelming bipartisan support for tabling the motion, with 359 votes in favor and only 43 against it.

On the Democratic side, Johnson enjoyed the backing of 163 members, along with 196 Republicans. The chamber erupted in cheers from House GOP members upon the defeat of Greene’s motion.

Marjorie Taylor Greene had been vocal about her intention to challenge Johnson’s position as House Speaker, citing concerns over his handling of government funding and foreign aid. Following her move to make the resolution as “privileged,” the House leaders now have two legislative days to address the issue.
