Trump criticizes New York court system and says he will win in the state.

Former President Trump has voiced his confidence in winning the historically blue state of New York in the upcoming election cycle while criticizing the justice system in comments made ahead of his trial. Trump, who is currently facing his 19th day in court in Manhattan, expressed his belief that he can secure a victory in the Empire State despite its Democratic stronghold.

During his trial, Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen is facing cross-examination in a case that centers around allegations of Trump falsifying business records to conceal hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. The prosecution team is aiming to prove that Trump orchestrated a $130,000 payment to Daniels to silence her claims of an affair with him before the 2016 presidential election.

Despite maintaining his innocence and pleading not guilty, Trump has been critical of the court proceedings, branding the legal system as “corrupt” and accusing the case against him as a politically motivated attack orchestrated by the Biden administration. Trump lamented the early start time of the court sessions, which conflicted with his campaign obligations, forcing him to forego political engagements in favor of attending court.

The former president has been largely absent from the campaign trail due to his trial commitments, with rare exceptions made by the presiding judge. However, Trump recently held a rally in New Jersey that drew a massive crowd estimated at 80,000 supporters. He is set to hold his next rally in the Bronx, marking his return to New York since his last rally in 2016. Additionally, Trump has hinted at the possibility of hosting a rally at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan ahead of the election.

As the trial progresses, Trump’s legal team anticipates wrapping up questioning with Cohen soon, with closing arguments potentially commencing in the following days. Despite the challenges posed by the ongoing trial, Trump remains determined to win over New York voters and secure a victory in a state traditionally dominated by Democratic candidates.
