Trump tells Jesse Watters he was not warned about gunman

Former President Donald Trump and his vice presidential candidate JD Vance recently sat down for an exclusive interview with Jesse Watters on “Jesse Watters Primetime.” The interview, set to premiere on Monday night at 8 p.m. ET, delved into the recent assassination attempt against Trump.

During the interview, Trump disclosed that he was not given any prior warning about the gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, who shot at him from a roof during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The gunshot wound resulted in an injury to Trump’s right ear.

Watters questioned Trump about the lack of communication from the U.S. Secret Service regarding the potential threat. “Mistakes were made,” Watters stated. “They were monitoring this guy for an hour beforehand. No one told you not to take the stage?”

To this, Trump responded, “Nobody mentioned it. Nobody said it was a problem. [They] could’ve said, ‘Let’s wait for 15, 20 minutes, 5 minutes.’ Nobody said…I think that was a mistake.”

The former president also raised concerns about how Crooks managed to access the roof undetected. “How did somebody get on that roof?” Trump questioned. “And why wasn’t he reported, because people saw he was on that roof.”

Trump recounted the moments leading up to the assassination attempt, highlighting that attendees at the rally had raised alarms about the gunman’s presence. “When you have Trumpers screaming, the woman in the red shirt, ‘There’s a man on the roof,’ and other people, ‘There’s a man on the roof and who’s got a gun,’…that was quite a bit before I walked on the stage. And I would’ve thought someone would’ve done something about it,” Trump expressed.

Despite the harrowing ordeal, Trump has reportedly made a remarkable recovery from the gunshot wound. His former physician, Texas Congressman Ronny Jackson, shared a detailed update on Trump’s health, reassuring the public about the former president’s well-being.

Jackson stated, “He will have further evaluations, including a comprehensive hearing exam, as needed. He will follow up with his primary care physician, as directed by the doctors that initially evaluated him. In summary, former President Trump is doing well, and he is recovering as expected from the gunshot wound sustained last Saturday afternoon.”

Reflecting on the incident, Jackson expressed gratitude that Trump’s life was spared. “It is an absolute miracle he wasn’t killed,” he emphasized.

The upcoming interview promises to shed more light on Trump’s perspective on the assassination attempt and the events that transpired that day. Tune in to “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Monday night to hear the exclusive conversation with Trump and Vance.
