Trump wants Biden to take a test to see if he still thinks clearly.

Throughout his speech at the Turning Point Action convention in Detroit, former President Donald Trump once again raised questions about President Joe Biden’s mental acuity, suggesting that Biden should take a cognitive test similar to the one he took during his presidency. However, Trump’s remarks took a humorous turn when he mistakenly referred to Texas Republican Rep. Ronny Jackson as “Ronny Johnson,” the former White House physician who administered his cognitive test.

Trump, who celebrated his 78th birthday just the day before, has been a vocal critic of Biden, often questioning whether the 81-year-old president is fit for a second term. Despite his own gaffe in getting Jackson’s name wrong, Trump stood by his endorsement of the congressman, praising him for declaring Trump as the healthiest president in history during his time in the White House.

However, Trump’s comments were quickly met with criticism online, with the Biden campaign seizing on the opportunity to highlight the former president’s verbal misstep. In response to the scrutiny, Jackson clarified that Trump had voluntarily taken the cognitive test in 2018 to detect any early signs of memory loss or cognitive impairment.

The cognitive test that Trump undertook includes various tasks such as recalling a list of words, repeating random numbers backward, and drawing specific objects accurately. One notable task involved Trump reciting a specific sequence of words, including “Person. Woman. Man. Camera. TV,” which he later shared with pride.

During the same Detroit speech, Trump also referenced a widely circulated video clip showing Biden at the Group of Seven summit in Italy, where the president appeared to gesture towards a skydiver landing with flags from different nations. However, a cropped version of the video made it seem like Biden had turned away and only flashed a thumbs-up, prompting Trump to mockingly describe Biden as looking at trees.

Despite Trump’s attempts to ridicule Biden based on the video clip, the Biden campaign dismissed it as misleadingly edited and accused those sharing it of tampering with the footage to spread falsehoods about the president.

In conclusion, Trump’s call for Biden to take a cognitive test was overshadowed by his own verbal slip-ups during his speech in Detroit. The exchange serves as a reminder of the ongoing debate over the mental fitness of political leaders and the role of cognitive assessments in assessing their capabilities.
