Trump’s team calls Harris-Walz ticket ‘very liberal’ and ‘nightmare for all Americans’
The Trump campaign has recently criticized Vice President Kamala Harris’ newly announced running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, as a “dangerously liberal extremist.” The campaign warned that their joint vision for the country is “every American’s nightmare.”
Walz, a former congressman and currently serving his second term as governor of Minnesota, was selected as Harris’ vice presidential pick. Minnesota has historically been a state that Democrats reliably win in presidential elections, but the Trump campaign is focusing on flipping it this cycle.
In a recent attack on former President Trump and his running mate JD Vance, Walz referred to them as “weird.” This insult quickly went viral and has been embraced by the Harris campaign.
The Trump campaign strongly criticized Walz for his liberal policies and views, which they believe align perfectly with Harris’ own stances. They highlighted Walz’s proposals for a carbon-free agenda, stricter emission standards for gas-powered cars, and policies allowing convicted felons to vote. The campaign accused Walz of promoting California’s liberal agenda throughout the country.
Despite the criticism, Walz has achieved progressive policy victories in Minnesota, including protecting abortion rights, legalizing recreational marijuana, and implementing gun restrictions to reduce shootings.
Walz served as a congressman representing Minnesota’s 1st Congressional District before being elected governor in 2018 and re-elected for a second term four years later.
Recently, Walz made headlines for his comments about Trump and Vance, describing them as “weird people” who want to interfere in various aspects of people’s lives. Critics also pointed out his decision to mandate indoor masking during the pandemic and set up a hotline to report violations of COVID-19 mandates.
Despite the criticisms, Walz remains defiant in his progressive values. During a call with “White Dudes for Harris,” he encouraged embracing progressive ideals, stating that “one person’s socialism is another person’s neighborliness.”
Harris and Walz are slated to launch a campaign tour through seven crucial battleground states, starting with an event in Philadelphia. Their campaign promises to provide a stark contrast to the Trump administration’s policies and vision for America.
