US Approves Sale of Drones and Missiles to Taiwan Worth $360 Million
President Biden’s administration recently gave the green light to the sale of $360 million worth of drones, missiles, and other military equipment to Taiwan. The approved sale includes 291 Altius-600M systems, unmanned aerial vehicles armed with warheads, and 720 Switchblade drones, also known as “extended-range loitering munitions,” according to the State Department. The Biden administration justified this sale by stating that it serves U.S. national, economic, and security interests by aiding Taiwan in modernizing its armed forces and maintaining a credible defensive capability.
