Video caption from ‘Queer Eye’ mistakenly refers to Kamala Harris as ‘Madam President’

Vice President Harris recently had a delightful meeting with the original and current cast members of the popular TV show “Queer Eye.” The heartwarming encounter took place at the White House and was captured in a video that Vice President Harris later shared on social media.

In the video, we see Vice President Harris warmly welcoming Carson Kressley, Jai Rodriguez, Karamo Brown, and Jonathan van Ness at the door of the White House. The cast members share hugs with Harris, with Rodriguez jokingly mentioning that they have to resist the temptation to snoop around and open drawers, as it is apparently in their DNA.

As Vice President Harris poses for a picture with the cast members, the video then shows a lighthearted moment where Jonathan van Ness affectionately refers to Harris as “Honey,” before immediately correcting himself and addressing her as “Madam Vice President.”

However, what caught the attention of viewers was the caption accompanying the video, which mistakenly referred to Vice President Harris as “Madam President,” despite the on-screen interactions clearly showing otherwise.

Vice President Harris shared the video on her social media platform, expressing her gratitude towards the cast members of Queer Eye for joining her at the White House. She highlighted their discussion on the progress made by the LGBTQI+ community over the past two decades and thanked them for their endorsement and fabulous presence.

This incident isn’t the first time Vice President Harris has been incorrectly addressed as “Madam President.” Last year, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre made a similar mistake during a press conference, unintentionally referring to Harris as “the president” while discussing her upcoming speaking engagement.

The slip-up occurred as Jean-Pierre was announcing Harris’ participation in an event commemorating the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, emphasizing the importance of protecting women’s reproductive health rights. Despite the error, Jean-Pierre did not correct herself and continued with her statement.

It’s moments like these that highlight the complexities and challenges faced by prominent political figures like Vice President Harris, as they navigate public perception and address issues related to gender and leadership roles.

As Vice President Harris continues to make strides in her position, it’s essential for all individuals, including media personnel and the public, to acknowledge and respect her rightful title as Vice President. Let’s strive to ensure accuracy and respect in our interactions and discussions surrounding Vice President Harris and other esteemed leaders.
