Virtual vote to formally nominate Kamala Harris for president by DNC starting soon.

Democratic Party’s Historic Nomination of Vice President Kamala Harris

The Democratic Party is gearing up to officially nominate Vice President Kamala Harris for president on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in American political history. The nomination process will commence with a virtual roll call that will secure her position as the party’s choice for the upcoming November elections.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) will oversee the formal voting process, starting at 9 a.m. Delegates from across the country will participate using a personalized and watermarked virtual platform provided by the DNC. The voting period will extend until 6 p.m. on Aug. 5, allowing delegates ample time to submit their votes.

Once the roll call is finalized, the DNC plans to release the complete voting results. It remains uncertain whether there will be an official announcement when Harris surpasses the required threshold of 1,976 delegates to secure a majority.

With overwhelming support from almost all pledged Democratic delegates, totaling close to 3,900, Kamala Harris is poised to make history as the first Black woman nominated for the presidency in the United States. Following President Biden’s withdrawal from the race on July 21, Harris quickly gained widespread backing, leaving no room for potential challengers to emerge.

Vice Presidential Selection Process

While Harris prepares for the upcoming vote, attention has shifted to her choice of a vice presidential running mate. Although she is not obligated to reveal her selection before the roll call concludes, inside sources suggest that an announcement could come as early as next Monday.

Harris is reportedly considering a select group of candidates for the vice presidential slot, including Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Senator Mark Kelly from Arizona, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

Following the vice presidential announcement, Harris plans to embark on a campaign trail across battleground states with her chosen running mate. The first joint event is scheduled to take place in Philadelphia on Tuesday, demonstrating the unity and strength of the Democratic ticket.
