White House doctor says Biden’s COVID symptoms are getting better.
President Biden’s recent diagnosis with COVID-19 has raised questions about his ability to return to the campaign trail amidst his infection and calls for him to drop out of the race. However, there are promising signs of improvement in his health, according to his physician.
Dr. Kevin O’Connor reported that President Biden’s symptoms have improved “meaningfully” in the last day, although he still has a cough. The president received a fourth dose of Paxlovid on Friday morning, and his primary symptoms of a cough and hoarseness have shown significant improvement. Despite these positive developments, Mr. Biden will continue his treatment with Paxlovid as he progresses in his recovery.
Dr. O’Connor provided further details about the president’s health, stating that his lungs are clear and his vital signs, including pulse, temperature, blood pressure, and respiratory rate, remain normal. President Biden’s oxygen levels are excellent, and his bloodwork indicates no evidence of additional health concerns such as bacterial infections or anemia. His liver and kidney functions are also reported to be normal.
Following his positive COVID-19 test after an event in Las Vegas, President Biden has been isolating at his home in Rehoboth, Delaware. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend self-isolation for individuals experiencing symptoms of a respiratory virus, with resumption of normal activities only after symptoms have improved and a fever-free period of at least 24 hours.
Despite his recent health challenges, President Biden expressed his intention to return to the campaign trail soon, dismissing calls from some Democratic lawmakers to drop out of the race. In a campaign statement, he stated, “I look forward to getting back on the campaign trail next week.”
It is evident that President Biden is eager to resume his campaign activities and continue engaging with the public as he navigates his recovery from COVID-19. The coming days will be crucial in determining his ability to fully return to the campaign trail and address the challenges and responsibilities of his presidential candidacy.
