Who is JD Vance’s wife?
Usha Vance, the wife of Ohio Sen. JD Vance, has recently found herself in the national spotlight following the announcement that former President Donald Trump has selected her husband as his running mate for the upcoming election. Usha Vance, originally known as Usha Chilukuri, was born in 1986 and was raised in San Diego, California. She attended Yale Law School, where fate brought her together with the future Ohio senator.
In a report from the New York Times, it was revealed that Usha and JD Vance initially met and bonded over their shared diligence and commitment to their work. “We were friends, and I liked that he was very diligent,” Usha shared in a 2017 interview with NBC News. “He would show up at 9 a.m. appointments that I would set up for us to start working on the brief together.”
Describing his wife, JD Vance mentioned, “The thing that I remember most about Usha is just how completely forward and comfortable with herself she was. (She was) so defensive about the things that she really cared about.”
Before pursuing her law degree, Usha Vance earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Yale University, followed by a master’s in Philosophy from the University of Cambridge. The couple tied the knot in 2014 and are now proud parents to three children: sons, Ewan (6) and Vivek (4), and a daughter, Mirabel (2).
After completing her education, Usha Vance embarked on a career that included clerkships for prominent figures like Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. She also gained experience working at Munger, Tolles & Olson, a reputable California law firm with a “radically progressive” culture, according to reports.
Usha Vance has been involved in high-profile cases that include defending the University of California against Title IX allegations and representing the Walt Disney Company in copyright infringement claims.
Despite the newfound attention that comes with her husband’s vice-presidential nomination, Usha Vance expressed her current contentment with their life while remaining open to whatever the future may hold.
